Grid Size
The grid size determines the amount of detail work possible, it is set by the number keys 1-7 (translates to grid size 1-64). Picture shows the grid in it's normal setting, key 4 (8 units). Most levels does not normally need smaller brushwork than this. Spare the small grid sizes for these really complex cuts and the like.
