I have the same issue with Win 7 Ultimate and a dual core intel machine, i wonder if it is related to the dual core issues of XP?

I have the same problem with the "buffer overrun detected."
I contacted Steam Support and was directed here. Has anyone solved this problem yet? Maybe this info about my computer could help too: Windows Vista Home Premium Intel Core Duo CPU E6850 @ 3.00GHz 3 GB RAM 32-bit Operating System Ask me if you need more info, I hope someone knows what's wrong. Thanks! |

There is a thread on the Steam forums about this
same problem. I have an older system with a single core cpu so I don't get that error, and haven't tried any of these solutions. http://forums.steampowered.com/forum...d.php?t=989780 I feel you shouldn't have to do things like limit extensions to get games like Sin/Quake 2 to work with newer multi core cpu systems. Maybe if enough people with this problem contact Nvidia, there will be a proper fix for this problem in their future driver releases. Last edited by JamesBrown : 05-06-2010 at 09:26 AM. |

I don't run Sin Steam, I still have my old Sin and Wages of Sin CDs. But after upgrading my system I was getting the same "buffer overrun detected" fault. I used a glide wrapper for a while, which worked ok, but limited Sin graphically. God bless Chriss with his "quake3.exe" trick, works great and Sin looks and plays better than ever. Sin was ahead of its' time when it came out, a shame Ritual ran into troubles and Emergence went into stasis.

I have no such ATI GFX-Card so I had no way of testing and knowing what will work or not, I've just created that thread so everyone finds the solution . |
