NEED HELP!!! well not bad but still need help

so i dl a sin torrent and put on my lil sis's mini lap top. i start the game and it shows everything up till the main menu. then it closes out and says "video mode warning: failed to set video mode - resetting to defaults. game will now restart with the new video settings." i click OK but then nothing happens. can anyone help me out here. the lap top runs on 7.
