SiN Episodes just plain won't work

After installation, when I click on either the Steam icon or the SiN Episodes icon, nothing happens. No splash screen, no loading screen, nothing. I have yet to see ANYTHING happen other than Steam updating itself on the first attempt after installation... after which it does absolutely nothing.

I haven't even gotten as far as creating a steam account, entering a CD Key or anything like that.

I've read everything I can find, everywhere I can find it, and nothing seems to help.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled everything 3 or 4 times. I've ran it with my firewall on and created rules for the programs. I tried running with the firewall completely off.

I've tried re-downloaded the blob and dll files... nothing.

My drivers are current.

Help.

I'm running
WinXP SP2
P4 2.8 ghz
1.25 gig RAM
GeForce 7800

You have a Steam account with SiN Episodes part of it?

Make sure you're entering the key correctly (omit the dashes).

try to defrag game cache. Click on properties of Sin Icon in steam GUI and than on 'local files'. there you will find this option.
