Default CAN\'T INSTALL!

During installation of DVD, error 1335 comes up, stating "sinep15.cab" is corrupt. Exchanged original DVD for another, got the same error. Is this a registry problem? DVD player is fine, WinXP SP2, DirectX fine, drivers fine, no viruses, recommended specs easily met... What's the problem?! As I stated before, I did note this problem arising on non-English sites, so, although I couldn't read enough for the posts to be of help, I know that others are having this problem.PLEASE HELP!!

JoeBob,

Most of the time, this means that you have a dirty lens in your DVD drive. To verify, you can try installing the game on a friend's machine.

However, you can still install the game without using your DVD. Open the Steam client (which gets installed first), create your Steam account, and on the Games list, open the Games menu and click "Activate a product on Steam..."

Enter your CD key when prompted (it's located on the Quick Reference card that came with the game), and the game will download over Steam.

I've got an old-school dialup connection... Would this method take a gagillion years to download, or would the game be compressed somehow?

With dial-up, I wouldn't recommend doing a full download.

Do you have a CD/DVD lens cleaner anywhere? Can you copy the installer files to your hard drive first?

I'll try both today. Thanks very much (even if nothing works).

I was reading thru these messages regarding installation issues and found this thread. I followed your advice Micheal and went ahead and registered the game via steam and it is now downloading the files, as I have been unable to install the game from DVD due to a MSIEXEC.exe windows installer error.
