![]() Well, lately the web site seems to be getting slower and slower to load up. From entering the name to having the main page actually start to pull up takes from 30 seconds to a minute. Once it starts coming up, it's up in seconds. Are there that many new people trying to learn about SiN?

![]() Are you talking about the forum main page or the news page? Related, I haven't noticed any slowdowns, but I have it set to remember my login details. I'll see what I can dig up regarding the slowness.

![]() I'm talking about site and forum both.
Possibly a better example, I'll bring up my bookmark for www.ritualistic.com First, on the lower left corner of the browser it says Waiting for www.ritualistic.com, which usually lasts for about 20 to 40 seconds. Next, the message switches to Transfering data from www.ritualistic.com, which also lasts from 20 to 40 seconds. During this time, the loading bar on the bottom right is just setting there. Finally, the loading bar shoots right and the page suddenly appears. I have this lag time for load on every single link I click afterwards, from forum to main page links. Thinking it might be a DNS issue, I reset both router and cable modem, flushed dns (using XP), and even set the DNS servers to a few I'd found on the internet (suggested at dslreports) and the issue remained. |

![]() Hmm, that's *really* slow. Is it perhaps possible for you to set a different default DNS server for testing purposes?

![]() Already tried that, using some from Level3 I think it was:
4.2.2.1 4.2.2.2 4.2.2.3 Same issue. Tried tracerouting to www.ritualistic.com, took 13 hops but it went pretty quick. For giggles, I even pinged it, came back at 69ms average. |

![]() Just did a quick load up with Firefox, Mozilla, and IE6. Ranged, today, between 23 to 28 seconds for the site to respond and come up for me on all 3, same behavior too, just sets there waiting then suddenly appears.
I've been trying a few tests at dslreports, and so far they all come back good. The only thing funny is my download speed so far. Previously it tested between 2800 and 3400, and now it sticks consistently to 2900 +/ 80. However I used to get 450+ KBsec from fileplanet, and now I peg out at 340'ish. And CNET.com's bandwidth meter only shows me at about 1400 to 1900, instead of the usual 2500+. I'm about to call Charter, I think, and see if they might just have a routing issue going on. Oh, don't know if it matters or not, but if I click on the Speakeasy link in the upper corner their page comes up almost instantly. I'm pretty sure it's either something on my end, or my isp's end, since I seem to be the only one affected. |

![]() One last post on this topic.
It IS my ISP, and I finally have proof. They recently added a new WAN IP address range, begining with 71 instead of the original 24. When I'm in the 71 range, Ritualistic (and a few other pages) hang on the 'waiting for response' message. When I'm on the original 24 range, everything loads up withing seconds of going to the page. I'm reporting it to them, but I'm not optimistic. Charter's best ability is in taking your money, and not always in being helpful. |
