Default SiN 1.12 Patch in the Works

In response to a question about the number of SiN episodes being planned, Ritual's Michael Russell let us know that a patch is in the works for the original SiN. It's been given a higher priority than SiN: Source, currently on hold until completion of the patch. There's no word yet on what changes have been made.


Regarding the length of SiN Episodes, ParadoX said that 9 episodes have been planned. Emergence is the only episode in active production and episode two is in preproduction.


An update from Michael:

Yeah except you get SiN by purchasing the first episode, or atleast thats what I picked up from the CPL presentation.

To clarify, SiN 1.12 is the Steam version of SiN. Aside from some minor asset tweaks, a new sound system, a new video playback system, minor modifications to the network protocol and support for Steam, there are no additional changes from SiN 1.11.

Expect full information regarding SiN 1.12 to be released shortly.

You seem to be mistaking Source for Steam.

Steam is the distribution channel. You'll purchase "SiN: Episodes" through Steam. "SiN 1.12" is a version of the original "SiN" designed to work with Steam.

Source is a game engine. We're using Source for "SiN: Episodes," just like we used a modified version of the Quake II engine for the original "SiN." Creating "SiN: Source" requires recreating every asset and behavior from "SiN" in the new engine.

What is so lol about it? Sin released at '98 and they used modified q2 engine, while halflife used modified q1 engine...

I know, its just remembering the good ole days and the technology we used back then that we thought was amazing and was back then and then looking at what we have now. Compare the Apple 2 to an Alienware and then laugh. It feels good.

O so the original sin will be released on steam and also a coverted/recreated version from sin will be released?

Everyone confusing me!

So I take it for our Orginal Sin we got back in 1998, ritual releasing a patch, so when ever SinSource get released we can play against them in the orginal Sin Engine?

I still dont care I'm going to buy Sin Source, SiN has it days where it dislikes XP!
